10806 Rhododendron ‘Jean Marie de Montague’ — (griffithianum hybrid) 5', -5°F, M, 4/4. Hybridized by Louis Mensing of Eugene, Oregon under the name of ‘Yaku Fairy’ x semilunatum (the taxonomists changed the name of semilunatum to mekongense), so it is better known under that name. It is a wonderful small plant that flowers heavily and looks good in the garden. Plant it with some of the lower growing blue rhododendrons for real eye appeal. 10-15"

Rhododendron ‘Ken Janeck’ — see the Rhododendron Species section under R. degronianum ssp. yakushimanum.

10970 Rhododendron ‘Killer Diller’ — (‘Nancy Evans’ x ‘Pumpkin Ridge’) 4', 5°F, M, -/-. A delightful new hybrid just introduced by Dan Bones of Florence, Oregon. The flower color is a salmon, pink, orange and red combination with a creamy cast to the center of the petals. It has a huge red flare that is duplicated on the calyx. This is what makes the flower so different. The color is so unusual that it is difficult to capture in pictures. The foliage is fairly large and a moss green. Give ‘Landmark’ a prominent spot in the landscape; it can take some pretty good sun. 15-21"

10265 Rhododendron ‘Lavender Princess’ — (probably fortunei ssp. fortunei and/or catawbiense or ponticum or both) 4', -10°F, ML, 3/4. 10787 Rhododendron ‘Lee’s Scarlet’ — (caucasicum hybrid) 4', -5°F, VE, 3/3. The extremely early flowering period is the most valuable quality of this hybrid. Rosy-crimson trusses foretell springtime long before most other rhododendrons even think of blooming. Thin, plastered indumentum on the leaf undersides makes us believe that its unknown parent is probably R. arboreum. 6-10", 10-15"

10887 Rhododendron ‘Lemonade’ — (‘Damaris’ x ‘Crest’) 5-6', -5°F, M, 4/4. Bright glowing yellow trusses radiate a warm feeling through the garden. Growth habit is low and compact with dark green rounded foliage that has a touch of cinnamon indumentum underneath. If you’re looking for a great yellow rhododendron, this one will be a dream come true! 6-10", 10-15"

10322 Rhododendron ‘Lem’s 121' — (‘Anna’ x ‘Lem’s Goal’) 5', 5°F, M, 4-5/2-3. What a magnificent rhododendron with its huge trusses of shimmering apricot, warmed with cream and kissed on the edges with shining, almond blossom pink! This beautiful flower is further accented by a reddish flare that encircles the center. When young, the foliage has a slightly crinkled texture, which seems to be smoother on an older plant. Each leaf is medium sized, about three to four times as long as it is wide, and fern green. 6-10"

10786 Rhododendron ‘Lem’s Cameo’ — (‘Dido’ x ‘Anna’) 5', 5°F, M, 5/3. Sensational ruffled flowers of apricot cream and pink with a real glow to them. Super foliage is deep shiny green in summer and bright, bronzy red when new, making a show in itself! Winner of the coveted Superior Plant Award. It has very large, glossy, red flowers that are flat, allowing for exuded stamens that fade into a white throat. Interesting, slightly twisted foliage is deep forest-green in the shade. 6-10", 10-15"

10117 Rhododendron ‘Lem’s Tangerine’ — (‘Margaret Dunn’ x [‘Anna’ x ‘King of Shrubs’]) 4', -5°F, M, 5/3. The color of this flower is as close to orange as any rhododendron has gotten for many years. The truss is nicely ball shaped, and the foliage is light green. 6-10"

10218 Rhododendron ‘Lillian Peste’ — (degronianum ssp. yakushimanum ‘Koichiro Wada’ x unnamed Whitney hybrid) 2', 0°F, M, 4/4. Dark red-pink buds open to an interior of coral-pink rims and carrot-red throats and an exterior shaded pink. A very interesting flower in trusses of 25-30. 21-30"

11132 Rhododendron Linda Cornell’ — (Parentage unknown) 4', 5°F, 5/3-4. Ball trusses made up of pink buds that open to white, tinted with lavender pink that deepens at the edges. 10222 Rhododendron ‘Lodauric Iceberg’ — (auriculatum x ‘Loderi’) 6', 0°F, L, 4/3. A tall plant with long leaves and large trusses of fragrant, white flowers with green centers. Our plant in the display gardens has withstood two very cold winters and is doing great. Give it a location with some afternoon shade, and it will reward you with beautiful, lily-like flowers. A good late rhododendron. 10-15", 21-30"

10118 Rhododendron ‘Loderi Fairyland’ — (fortunei ssp. fortunei x griffithianum) 6', 0°F, M, 4/3. Pink buds open to expose a fragrant white flower. It is very similar to the other white ‘Loderi’ types. 10-15"

10001 Rhododendron Loderi Pretty Polly’ — (fortunei ssp. fortunei x griffithianum) 6', 0°F, M, 5/3-4. This is another pretty pink in the ‘Loderi’ group, all very nice. 10-15", 21-30"

11133 Rhododendron ‘Loderi Queen Mary’ — (fortunei ssp. fortunei x griffithianum) 6', 0°F, M. This is a new Loderi variety to us, but a very old cross. 10773 Rhododendron ‘Loder’s White’ — ([‘Album Elegans’ x griffithianum] x ‘White Pearl’) 5', 0°F, M, 4/3-4. This hybrid is often thought to be a member of the ‘Loderi’ group because of the word "Loder" in its name. While it does have R. griffithianum as one of its parents, as do the ‘Loderi’, that is the only relationship. ‘Loder’s White’ has a large, upright truss opening from a tall, candelabrum bud. It first opens white with a slight yellow in the throat and a pink picotee edge. 15-21", 30-36", 36-48", 48-60"

11166 Rhododendron ‘Love Poem’ — (‘Silk Ribbon’ x [degronianum ssp. degronianum ‘Exbury’ x ‘Mrs. J. G. Millais’]) 3', -5°F, E, 4/4. The deep pink purple buds on this Rhody burst open to a lovely pink lavender flower with a large spotted area on the dorsal lobe as the flower ages it will fade to cream with a hint of green. Flowers finish with a white to creamy clayx with purple spotting. Leaves have a rich green sheen. 15-21", 21-30"

10017 Rhododendron ‘Lucy Lou’ — (leucaspis x [ciliatum x leucaspis]) 3', 5°F, E, 3-4/4-5. Soft, snowy white flowers cover this pretty little plant. The foliage is a lovely bonus all year with its velvety, hairy texture. Even if it never flowered, you could grow it for its especially nice foliage! 6-10"

10768 Rhododendron ‘Lydia’ — (‘Antoon van Welie’ x ‘Day Dream’) 6', 0°F, ML, 4/3-4. Waxy fluorescent pink. This is the brightest color you will see in a flower.
