cultivar that will bring lots of color and style into the landscape.
The show starts in spring with various shades of orange-red with

color. ‘Muro gawa’ matures to a round-topped tree, 10 to 13’ wide,

50165 Acer palmatum
‘Nuresagi’ — 18’, MATSUMURAE, red. The black-purple, 7-lobed
leaves are cut almost to the petioles, appearing as slender, pointed

Japanese maple! 4-5’ $79.95, 5-6’ $99.95

50211 Acer palmatum
‘Octopus’ — 6-15’, DISSECTUM, red. With a name like ‘Octopus’,
this cultivar must have many deeply divided lobes to each leaf, and of
course it does. The fingers of each leaf are red and it covers itself
with a mound of red beauty. A strong, irregular growing variety
with red foliage turning brilliant fire engine red in the fall. New
shoots can be quite long, giving it it’s characteristic "octopus"
effect. 1-2’ $44.95
50133 Acer palmatum
‘Ogon sarasa’ — 18’, MATSUMURAE, red. As early leaves unfold on
this tree, they are deep green brushed with red. Veins are in sharp

compact ‘Butterfly’ with similar small green and white leaves that
start out touched with pink. We don’t know about fall color yet as
some say it is yellow and others say it is red. We think we will be
happy with either one. 2-3’ $49.95
50048 Acer palmatum
‘Okushimo’ — 24’, PALMATUM, green. Small leaves are sharply
pointed at each lobe tip. An unusual effect is created by upward
curling leaf edges. ‘Okushimo’ is an upright growing, vase shaped
tree. It is vigorous, and young trees can grow as much as 3’ per
season. Leaves turn fluorescent gold in autumn. 1-2’ $39.95, 2-3’
$45.95, 7-8’ $149.95
50047 Acer palmatum ‘Olsen’s Frosted Strawberry’ —
6-8’, MATSUMURE, variegated. Color! Color! Color! The foliage comes
out in the spring with deep pink deeply cut leaves with darker veins,
then turns cream with a pink blush ground and rich green veining. This
seedling selection of Harry Olsen is turely outstanding. #1 $19.95,
2-3’ $69.95
50154 Acer palmatum
‘Omato’ — 26’, AMOENUM, green. This is a large leaved Japanese
maple, similar to ‘Osakazuki’, with bright green leaves and a nicely
rounded structure; almost as wide as it is tall. Leaves have five to
seven lobes and are 2 to 3" long and 3 to 4" wide. In spring, the
leaves emerge with a tinge of orange-red and turn again in the fall to
brilliant tones of red. This is a strong-growing tree with leaves that

easily sunburn. 4-5’ $89.95, 5-6’ $119.95, 6-7’ $149.95
50049 Acer palmatum
‘Omure yama’ — 18’, MATSUMURAE, green. One of the best green forms
of palmatum, this is a small tree with a pendulous habit. The

that grow upward, then bend out and down. Outstanding orange fall
color. 1-2’ $44.95, 2-3’ $49.95
50290 Acer palmatum
‘Orange Dream’ — 12’, PALMATUM, green. An upright shrub type maple
that can reach up to 25’ in height at maturity. Well branched, slender
with green bark. Orange-yellow leaves in spring become yellow-green in
fall and eventually golden yellow. Similar to ‘Katsura’. 1-2’
$24.95, 2-3’ $44.95
50212 Acer palmatum
‘Orangeola’ — 5-8’, DISSECTUM, red. One of the better
introductions to the group of maples with deeply cut leaves and
weeping habit, this one has a glorious orange color. Spring growth is
orange-red, and summer leaves maintain a wash of orange coloration
over rich green. As an added bonus, there is a good second growth in
midsummer, which again shows the orange new foliage. The two toned
summer color gives way to spectacular bright orange-red in fall.
Somewhat more upright than many in its category, with draping branches
that form an appealing structure. The height will depend on how high
the plant is staked as it grows. #1 $29.95, 2-3’ $35.95
50050 Acer palmatum
‘Oregon Sunset’ — 18’, MATSUMURAE, red. Its short, bushy habit
makes this maple a splendid container plant. Foliage is interesting
with leaves bunched at the end of each shoot. Red leaves are deeply
divided into narrow lobes with serrated margins. Soft, sunset colored
new foliage and glowing sunset colors in fall. 1-2’ $29.95, 2-3’
$45.95
50080 Acer palmatum
‘Oridono nishiki’ — 18’, PALMATUM, variegated. Wow! What a
gorgeous, variegated maple with bright pink, cream, and shiny green
leaves. The small foliage on this upright cultivar has a tendency to
curve on the most variegated leaves. Like many variegated maples, you
may see some dieback and branches can revert. If they do, just remove
them. A beauty for any garden! 3-4’ $69.95, 5-6’ $74.95
51081 Acer palmatum
‘Orion’ — 3’, DWARF, green. Originating from a witch’s broom in
Pennylvania this cultivar has feathery, deeply divided, small leaves.
It should be at home in a container or the rock garden. 2-3’ $69.95
50192 Acer palmatum
‘Ornatum’ — 12’, DISSECTUM, red. Typical in leaf shape to most
dissectum cultivars, this maple is lacy and light. It is an old
cultivar and has passed the test of time to prove its excellence.
Leaves are an outstanding bronze-red in the spring, very bright when
compared to other red foliaged forms. By late summer, the leaves have
matured to green and are then ready to put on the fall show of
crimson-red. This fine plant grows wider than tall. 2-3’ $44.95,
3-4’ $55.95
50051 Acer palmatum
‘Osakazuki’ — 36’, AMOENUM, green. This cultivar has the largest
leaves of all the palmatums, the better to show its famous
display of fall color! The intense crimson colors of ‘Osakazuki’ in
fall are enough to render speechless even the most verbose of us at
Greer Gardens. If this tree displayed this show only one day a year,
it would be well worth a garden spot. You could, however, be treated
to the glorious colors over a long time, depending on the weather. A
most outstanding tree with dark green summer foliage. Mature growth
develops a wonderfully broad canopy on strong branches. Demand always
exceeds supply. #1 $19.95, 1-2’ $29.95, 3-4’ $59.95
50052 Acer palmatum
‘Oshio beni’ — 30’, AMOENUM, red. A desirable form, its foliage
color is outstanding. While other red leafed varieties are blood-red,
‘Oshio-beni’ is orange-red! Make a bright planting of red palmatums,
using ‘Oshio-beni’ with ‘Bloodgood’ or ‘Moonfire’, and the contrasting
colors will be richly rewarding. 3-4’ $59.95, 4-5’ $79.95
50291 Acer palmatum
‘Oshu shidare’ — 18’, MATSUMURAE, red. At maturity this tree will
be more than 10’ wide with cascading branches that touch the ground.
The leaves are deeply cut, nearly to the center, dark purple in spring
to bronzy-purple in summer with green undertones, changing finally to
red in the fall. Rarely found in cultivation but an established
favorite in Japan. 4-5’ $89.95
50174 Acer palmatum
‘Oto hime’ — 3’, DWARF, green. This is a vigorous and desirable
little dwarf that has a nice dense, flat-topped habit that lends
itself quite well to bonsai culture. The leaves are small, 1 to 2"
wide and long, with the typical five lobed palmate form. They emerge a
bright yellow-green in the spring with red edging and tips, which
persist all through the summer. Fall colors are pleasant yellow to
yellow-orange tones. #1 $35.95, 2-3’ $49.95, 4-5’ $89.95
51082 Acer palmatum
‘Otome zakura’ — 12’, PALMATUM, red. Very intense tones of red are
surpassed by none in color, brilliance and performance. This makes a
superb, medium sized tree of exceptional beauty. Luscious and lovely!
3-4’ $69.95, 4-5’ $89.95
50236 Acer palmatum
‘Otto’s Dissectum’ — 4’, DISSECTUM, green. This cultivar
has large lacy leaves on its weeping horizontal branches. Growth is
more open than many dissectums, will create a great veil effect when
in the right place in the garden. The green leaves have red-purple
margins in spring. Lovely! 4-5’ $139.95
50053 Acer palmatum
‘Palmatifidum’ — 6-12’, DISSECTUM, green. Syn. ‘Dissectum Paucum’
and ‘Washi-no-o’. An outstanding cultivar of green lace leaf. It
differs from the standard in that the lobes are not as deeply cut at
the edges. This gives the leaf a sturdier appearance that is equally
as beautiful. Fall display is a colorful blend of yellow, gold, and
crimson. 1-2’ $34.95, 2-3’ $55.95, 3-4’ $149.95
50136 Acer palmatum
‘Peaches and Cream’ — 12’, PALMATUM, variegated. Collectors take
note of this exciting variegated maple from Australia! It is a cross
between ‘Shigitatsu sawa’ and ‘Aka shigitatsa sawa’. Spring leaves
boast a cream color with rose-red covering. The reticulated green
veins give fascinating texture to the lighter base color. Leaves turn
yellow in the fall. Upright and compact. #1 $19.95, 2-3’ $59.95
50284 Acer palmatum
‘Pendulum Julian’ — 12’, DISSECTUM, red . Syn. ‘Julian’ dissectum.
Canopied with soft green leaves that are dark brown when unfolding,
this tree will often grow as wide as it is tall. The 7-lobed leaves
are deeply divided, each lobe doubly incised or serrated which adds to
its lacy, fern like appearance. Handsome addition to small landscapes.
1-2’ $45.95, 2-3’ $49.95

popular choice for bonsai. 2-3’ $29.95, 6-7’ $149.95
50385 Acer palmatum
‘Purple Ghost’ — 25’, MATSUMURAE, red. Deep purple, almost black
veins, add great texture to the glistening purple foliage of summer.
Its hard to believe, but these same cool, dark leaves come afire in
the fall in shades of hot orange to scarlet. 1-2’ $29.95, 4-5’
$119.95
50132 Acer palmatum
‘Raraflora’ — 6-10’, DISSECTUM, green. A beautiful, deeply cut

and Davies in New Zealand by Graham Roberts is vigorous and has the
weeping habit typical of dissectum varieties. Eventual height depends
on how high you stake this beautiful weeper. The leaves are deeper
purple-red than ‘Crimson Queen’ or ‘Everred’, and hold their color
well, turning crimson in the fall. More dwarf than ‘Crimson Queen’.
1-2’ $39.95, 3-4’ $79.95, 4-5’ $119.95
51006 Acer palmatum
‘Red Feathers’ — 4-5’, DISSECTUM, red. Its small leaves are similar
to ‘Red Fillagree Lace’. However this seedling of ‘Burgundy Lace’ is a
stronger growing cultivar. A good alternative to ‘Red Fillagree Lace’
and good for pot culture. 4-5’ $114.95
50187 Acer palmatum
‘Red Filigree Lace’ — 5-8’, DISSECTUM, red. This great maple has
unique small foliage with wonderful substance that allows the leaves
to hold themselves nicely on the branches and show off their
distinctive fine form. Eventual height will depend on how tall you
stake it. Foliage is deep red and holds very well all summer.
Certainly, this is one of the finest Japanese Maples in cultivation,
and one you’ll want in your garden. This is always in short supply and
small. 1-2’ $45.95, 4-5’ $129.95
